Cannabis harm reduction & patient access

Understand your cannabis use. Know your options.

Indicate provides confidential, non-judgemental information and support for people who use cannabis, particularly those using it to manage their health. Whether you want to understand your use better, reduce potential harms, or explore whether specialist medical treatment could be appropriate, we can help you work out your next step.

You do not need to know what kind of support you need before contacting us. Leave your details and a member of the Indicate team can contact you for a confidential conversation.

Leave your details

You might be:

using cannabis to manage pain, sleep or anxiety concerned about how much you use buying outside the legal medical system looking for practical harm reduction info wondering if prescribed cannabis is available to you simply looking for reliable information

Support without judgement

Cannabis use is rarely black and white.

Some people use cannabis occasionally. Others use it every day. Some use it for enjoyment, some to manage symptoms, and many for a mixture of reasons.

Our role is not to tell you what you should think about cannabis. It is to help you make more informed decisions.

Indicate provides clear information about cannabis, health and harm reduction, and can help you understand the different support and treatment options that may be available.

The process

What happens when you contact us?

1

Tell us a little about yourself

Complete our short online form and let us know what you would like help with.

2

Have a confidential conversation

We can talk through your circumstances, answer general questions and help you understand the options available.

3

Find the right next step

That might mean harm reduction information, another support service, speaking with your GP, or exploring specialist medical assessment.

Where specialist medical cannabis assessment may be appropriate, we can help connect you with an independent prescribing service. Any decision about whether a treatment is suitable for you is made by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

Harm reduction

Cannabis and harm reduction

If you already use cannabis, reliable information can help reduce potential harms. Indicate aims to make that information easier to find and easier to understand.

You do not need to be planning to stop using cannabis to ask for help. Harm reduction starts with where you are now.

We can help people think about issues including:

  • frequency and patterns of cannabis use
  • different methods of consumption
  • tolerance and dependence
  • mental and physical wellbeing
  • interactions with alcohol and other substances
  • reasons for using cannabis
  • when it may be useful to seek professional support

Medical cannabis

Exploring medical cannabis

Cannabis-based medicines can legally be prescribed in the UK by appropriately qualified specialist clinicians.

They are not suitable for everyone, and Indicate does not diagnose conditions or decide whether someone should receive a prescription.

If you would like to understand the legal treatment pathway, we can explain how specialist assessment works and help you explore your options.

Where appropriate, Indicate can refer people to an independent specialist medical cannabis provider.

Starting locally

Beginning in the Forest of Dean

Indicate is initially working with people and organisations in the Forest of Dean. We want to create a local service that helps people talk about cannabis and health more openly, access trustworthy information, and find appropriate support without stigma.

What we learn here will help us improve the service over time.

Not sure what you need?

That is completely fine. Tell us what is going on and we will help you understand the options.
